What is "Masterpiece Podcast?"
Creative Theatre has been working with young people ages 5 and up for 15 years, focusing on creating a fun story and telling it in the theatrical medium. And during the rehearsal process the students learn about the craft, along with life skills that only the arts can teach.
Every play we create is an original work that is generated from the imaginations of the students in the class.
Masterpiece Podcast Series 1 uses art submitted by young people and classic works as our catalysts. With only basic props, a clapboard, and their imaginations, The Masterpiece Podcast Players transform a neighborhood into the landscape of Series 1.
The Masterpiece Podcast Players are trying to work things out in their lives ("St Crispin's Day Speech", "A Hamlet Kind of Day") and get a little help from Shakespeare to solve their problems.
They are also discovering details about the man ("Who Was This Guy Anyway?"), his writings ("The Chorus", "Shakespeare's Swordfights"), and when he lived ("Did They Really Talk Like That?", "The Clothes-Were They Fabulous?") There is a new Quick Tip with each episode.
What is coming up in Series 2?
UPDATED! Masterpiece Podcast Series 2 will still feature artwork from young people, but we are also featuring our students and the productions of "Hamlet...and Eggs."
And we will be exploring art from around in the world in a new segment.
And yes, more fun with the bard as we have a whole new set of Shakespeare Quick Tips coming your way!
